Hello Roderick Families!

What a great day for this year's Field Day!  The weather was great and the children had a lot of fun.  Special thanks to Mr. Moon and Mr. Maguire for organizing such a wonderful day.  Additionally, thanks to all of the teachers and paraprofessionals for overseeing all of the events.

KP Visit

Thank you to KP North principal Dr. Gilson and former Roderick students Jack, Aleena, and Mattie for visiting our school this week.  They provided a lot of information about the life of a 7th grader at KP North.

This afternoon our school held its Summer Reading Olympics - Read to the Finish Line opening ceremony.  We celebrated the accomplishments from last year and shared our excitement for this year.  All Summer Reading Olympics - Read to the Finish Line materials will be sent home via e-mail before the last day of school.  Additionally, all Summer Reading Olympics - Read to the Finish Line materials will be posted on our website on July 1st.

Thanks to all of the Grade 5 parents who attended the Camp Bournedale informational meeting on Thursday evening.  Special thanks to camp director Mike Martin who came up from Bournedale to make the presentation.

Miss Yelle’s and Mrs. Poirier’s classes completed their final writing masterpiece which showcases not only the best part of themselves, but also the writing skills that they have been taught this year.

This week the Roderick School had a "Principal for the Day."  Rachael from Mrs. Farrell's room won this S.W.I.S.H. raffle last week.  Rachael assisted me in conducting the daily business of the school.  She made an EXCELLENT Principal!

Congratulations to the Beginning Band, the Advanced Band, and the Jazz Band for their wonderful concert on Thursday night.  The students sounded amazing!  Special thanks to our fantastic music instructor, Ms. Tracy Salazar for creating such a great concert!

Our Grade 6 students received their yearbooks this afternoon.  The PTO supplied ice cream sundaes for the students and staff to enjoy while they viewed their yearbooks and had them signed.  Always a great time!

Thank you to all of our families who donated items for our Term 4 Spirit Day Food Drive.  There was a plethora of food donated during the three day collection.  Thank you to our PTO for assisting in this wonderful cause.

Grade 6 will celebrate their graduation on Monday, June 23rd at 12:30 PM in the Delaney courtyard.  If the weather does not cooperate, we will have the ceremony in the Gibbons gymnasium.

Thank You!

Thank you to our donors, supporters and attendees for another successful Comedy Night!
WEST's annual Comedy Night and Auction was held on March 7, 2014 and raised almost $17,000 for Wrentham's elementary schools. The event is WEST's single most important fundraiser each year, funding the majority of the grants for the coming year. Comedian Mike Hanley's act garnered many laughs from the audience. Live and silent auctions provided participants an opportunity to bid on many exciting items.
This year's event drew over 210 attendees. Some of the generously donated auction items included a summer membership to Park Terrace Swim Club, a one-year membership to the YMCA Hockomock, a wine tasting for 12 by Paul Malagrifa of Musings on the Vine, Red Sox tickets and much more.

We have taken a few weeks off from sending a formal e-mail.  We still have a few things going on to finish out the year.  Thank you to everyone who submitted your $1 for the Staff Appreciation Luncheon.  We were able to provide a great lunch and it was a lot of fun serving our Staff.

Food Drive for Spirit Day, June 6
Red plastic bags were sent home earlier this week.  So far, we have seen a great response with them being returned with items our food pantry can use.  Please remember to send in your bag by Friday, June 6 with a an item or two.  If you did not receive a red bag, please send in your donation in any bag.
Thank you from the Food Pantry!

Scoops II Ice Cream Coupons
Scoops II, the new ice cream shop in Wrentham Center has graciously given our entire school $1 off coupons to use this Summer.  They will be coming home later this week.  Please thank Scoops II when you visit them! Their approx. hours are M-F 3pm-9pm, Sat 11am-9pm & Sun 11am-7pm.

School Supplies
Yes, we know the year isn't over and you don't want to think about School supplies for the Fall.  You won't have to think too much when you order them online this summer.  We will be using the same online company as last year and more information will be sent home once school ends.  This is a service offered by the PTO and is not a fundraiser.

Facebook
We are on Facebook and from time to time post quick reminders.  Please "LIKE" us on Facebook under "Wrentham Elementary PTO".  This will be the only way we can communicate this summer to post links for school supplies, etc.

Interesting Facts from the PTO...
The 6th grade yearbook is put together by PTO volunteers and takes 5-6 months to complete.  The students will be receiving their yearbooks on Friday, June 6th.  Many thanks to Jeniffer Salvatore, Alisa West and the entire yearbook committee!

This school year we have submitted over 9,000 Labels for Education.  As a surprise, our school received a box full of books from Scholastic that are being distributed across most grade levels.
Keep clipping the Labels for Education on most Campbell's soup and Pepperidge Farm products.

Remember to keep clipping Box Tops.  The Fiske library has a bin in the doorway where you can deposit them this summer!

Thank you for your support!

Thank you for checking in this week.
Enjoy your weekend,
Respectfully,
Stephen S. Grenham, Principal
