October 3, 2014 - Week 5

Dear Roderick Families,

As most of you are aware, our school suffered two tragedies this week.  The outpouring of support from the whole community has been greatly appreciated and has contributed toward the well-being of our students and staff.  In their names, we thank you for this support. Our continued thoughts and prayers go out to the families who suffered the losses.

As a surprise donation from our fantastic food service department, 8 Grade 6 boys and 8 Grade 6 girls were randomly selected to receive a free ice cream from the cafeteria.  Grade 6 students were selected because their grade had the highest student participation (98%) at the Roderick School!

Congratulations to this week's Positive Referrals!  These individuals were "caught" being responsible and respectful.  We are very proud of them!  Keep up the great work!

After researching various football players in the NFL, Mrs. Clutterbuck’s students estimated each player’s salary, keeping in mind a total cap of $18,000,000! After bidding for their favorite players, each student was required to calculate the combined salary of his/her DREAM TEAM, which involved adding numbers in the millions!

Mrs. Haughey’s sixth grade class visited their first grade buddies (Miss Blake's class).  Sixth graders worked with the first graders, reading to them about Johnny Appleseed.  Students had the opportunity to create a project following the reading.

There will be a Hoedown for the 4th and 5th grade students on Monday, November 3rd from 7:00 - 8:30 PM.  There is no school on November 4th.  There will be a DJ, games, and an awesome Photo Booth!  It is going to be so much fun!  If you have any questions, please email wrenthampto@gmail.com.
