Roderick Review Week 24 (2/22/16-2/26/16)

Oh, the places you'll go!  How about coming to Literacy Night!  This is a community-wide event at Delaney and Roderick Schools for the activities and in the Vogel auditorium for the Book Fair!  I hope that many of you can join us next Wednesday, March 2, 2016 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

Dr. Beauchaine and many teachers will be taking part in different literacy stations throughout the building so I hope we will see many of you there!

Another "Don't Miss" Event!
There will be a professional magician, Joe Carota, coming to the Gibbons Gym on Monday, March 21, 2016 for a 6:00 p.m. performance!  Tickets are available at $5.00 per person or $20.00 per family! All proceeds will benefit Dr. Cameron in Dancing with the Wrentham Stars for the Delaney School Playground!

What's happening this week?

Students in 4Coleman are evaluating the exemplar writing sample for a grade four
open response question and discussing inferences.
Grade 4 students are discussing the character traits of "Rob" and finding evidence in the text to support their claims.  Some ideas included that Rob was friendly, because he would share his thoughts with others and give others things and others thought "Rob" was compassionate, because he didn't want the tiger to die, while still others thought he was sensitive since he cried a few times in the text.
Ms. White steps in for Mr. Trebek in this version of Jeopardy to review
concepts from the most recent Math lessons

6White Jeopardy contestants work simultaneously in teams to
derive the correct answer for the questions revealed on the screen.

6Haughey students puzzle over complex fraction problems
their classmates have written.

If students struggle, the fraction problem authors are there to advise.

Students in 6Moon are beginning to write their introduction to their country reports.  In this picture, some students are getting ready to confer with Mrs. Moon, while others are working on their second section of their country report, and others will begin typing their introduction.
Students in 5Downing are "flash drafting" and writing "fast and furious"
to record all that they already know about their explorers!

On Monday, February 22, 2016, a SEPAC meeting for incoming sixth grade parents was held in the KP Middle School Library.  Dr. Beauchaine was there to get a preview as well!  Our sixth graders have a lot to look forward to!
