The Fifth Grade GYM SHOW!

Congratulations fifth graders on an incredible production with this year's Gym Show, MU-SIC-PA-LOO-ZA!
Thank you to Mr. Moon and Mr. Maguire, the creative master minds behind it all as well as Ms. Salazar, Mrs. Lovely, Mrs. Fox, and Mrs. Lopez, AND all of the fifth grade teachers who all pitched in to make this a successful production.  This was a "memory maker" for sure!

In Honor of Memorial Day
Today, the students and staff from Delaney and Roderick Schools gathered together to remember and honor the heroes who have served our country in times of conflict and peace and gave the ultimate sacrifice.  Ms. Wagstaff led the ceremony this morning, the advanced band played a beautiful rendition of the Star-Spangled Banner, and each grade presented a song or poem to pay tribute to our nation's heroes.

NEXT THURSDAY...PRINCIPAL COFFEE 6/1/17
Dr. Cameron will be presenting the 2017-2018 school budget in the Vogel Auditorium at 8:30 a.m.  We hope to see many of you there!

Bullying and Cyberbullying Prevention Presentation
with Officer Hearon and KPHS students!

The entire sixth grade gathered today in the Vogel Auditorium as Officer Hearon
and students from the high school discussed scenarios, the evidence of bullying
behaviors and the effects that bullying behaviors have on the aggressor and the target.

Verbal, physical, relational, and cyber-bullying were all discussed and Officer Hearon shared some important reminders.  For example, students should be at least 13 years old to have their own online account.  He also shared the guideline that if you would not say something to the person you are talking about, you shouldn't share it with others or online in a post.

The high school students created short videos portraying examples of some of the dangers in engaging in bullying behavior via texting, Instagram, and Snapchat as well.  Pictures that are shared through social media do not truly "go away" and students were reminded that even if you send the picture to just one person, you do not have control over it; it can be posted anywhere.

Officer Hearon was impressed by the active participation of our students as they contributed both what they saw occur in the scenarios and what could have been done to improve the situations such as including others, supporting others, and being kind and caring, appreciating one another's uniqueness.

Thank you to Officer Hearon and our KPHS friends for taking time to create the videos and presenting to our sixth graders today!
