Our fourth graders recently went on a field trip to Old Sturbridge Village.
Our fourth graders were able to visit this living history museum during
its harvest. Students experienced firsthand what New England life was
like from 1790 - 1840 (sawmill demonstration, pottery making, shoe
making, musket firing) . Authentically costumed staff carried out the
daily activities of an early 19th century community.
After identifying unknown minerals through property testing and exploring the geometric shapes of mineral crystals, students made rock candy and completed a Mineral Webquest. Crystal growth observations were made throughout the week!
Thank you to everyone who donated items for the Term I Spirit Day. The response was fantastic! The Wrentham Food Pantry is excited and extremely grateful for the generosity of the individuals at the Roderick School.
On Thursday, published authors Sandy Leahy and Kathy Tarentino visited each of the fourth grade classrooms. Ms. Leahy and Ms. Tarentino spoke to the children about the process of creating a book. They used their book The Hibernating House as an example of how an idea can turn into something special.
Laprade Studios will be back at the Roderick School on Wednesday, November 20th for picture re-takes. October photos will be sent home toward the end of next week. Students who were absent on the October photo day or those in need of a re-take can get their pictures taken. Please note: original picture packages must be returned. Mrs. Chambers has extra picture envelopes in the office if needed.
Thank you to all the people who attended this morning's Principals' Coffee. We enjoyed the opportunity to go through the 2013 MCAS scores and the upcoming fall conferences. If you were unable to make it to today's coffee, the PowerPoint that was used can be found by clicking here. Our next Principals' Coffee will take place on Friday, January 24th at 8:30 AM in the Vogel Auditorium. We hope to see you there!
