We had a wonderful first week of school! The students all settled in to their new classrooms, and have adjusted terrifically! We know it is going to be a great year!
Please remember that Roderick School Open House has been scheduled for Wednesday, September 17th. Grade 4 is scheduled from 6 PM - 7 PM, Grade 6 is from 6:30 PM - 7:30 PM, and Grade 5 is from 7 PM - 8 PM. We hope you can make it.
I would like to take this opportunity to introduce some new faces to the Roderick School staff this year.
Dr. Allan Cameron - Superintendent of Schools
Ms. Karen Arnold - School Library Teacher
Mrs. Julie Cashman - School Nurse
Mrs. Hana McGowan - Math Specialist
Officer Steve Hearon - School Resource Officer
Again this year, the Roderick School will have a Student Council. The objective of this group will be to talk with their classmates about concerns/initiatives in their classroom and/or the school. The Student Council will consist of one student from each homeroom in Grades 5 and 6. Students interested in serving on the Student Council must write a one paragraph letter of interest. This letter of interest was distributed today and must be received by the close of school on September 19th. The Student Council will meet on the first Wednesday of each month for about 40 minutes at about 1:00 PM. I would like to thank Mrs. Moon who has volunteered to work with me on the Roderick School Council.
Thank you to the members of the 2013 - 2014 PTO for spearheading the redesign of the Roderick cafeteria. The cafeteria was repainted during the summer months and there is new signage posted on the walls. Special thanks to past PTO president, Alisa West for all of her hard work.
Thank you for reading this week's blog. Please check back again next Friday.

at the start of each school year. Blank medication forms can be found on
the school website, under ‘Health Services’ or obtained from Mrs. Cashman in the
Health Office.
