Thank you to all of our teachers and families who set time aside for the Fall Parent-Teacher conferences this week! It is so important to keep the conversation going so that our students see the home-school partnership in action. As the "Unity" poem describes below, this ongoing relationship between home and school helps to provide the necessary support for students to learn, grow, and succeed and develop an insatiable desire to continue learning throughout their lives.
UNITY
by Cleo V. Swarat
I dreamed I stood in a studio
And watched two sculptors there,
The clay they used was a young child’s mind
And they fashioned it with care.
And watched two sculptors there,
The clay they used was a young child’s mind
And they fashioned it with care.
One was a teacher:
the tools she used were books and music and art;
One was a parent
With a guiding hand and gentle loving heart.
the tools she used were books and music and art;
One was a parent
With a guiding hand and gentle loving heart.
And when at last their work was done,
They were proud of what they had wrought.
For the things they had worked into the child
Could never be sold or bought!
They were proud of what they had wrought.
For the things they had worked into the child
Could never be sold or bought!
And each agreed she would have failed
if she had worked alone.
For behind the parent stood the school,
and behind the teacher stood the home!
if she had worked alone.
For behind the parent stood the school,
and behind the teacher stood the home!
Thankful Hearts from Caring Kids (Part 2)
As you recall from last week's blog entry, the fourth graders were working on a service project to benefit those currently serving in the military. After many, many generous donations before Thanksgiving, students assembled 33 boxes! Below are the pictures from today when the boxes were shipped off!
Fifth Grade Social Studies...
Fifth graders are currently "exploring" explorers! In the pictures below, students are measuring just how big the viking ships actually were.
Thank you, Student Council!
Today, we received a thank you letter from the Ellie Fund for the contribution of $583.00 that we raised back in October. Thank you, Student Council Representatives, and thank you to the Roderick School Community for your generous donations to the Ellie Fund! Student Council, you had a plan and carried it out so well, making it seem effortless even though I know that you put a lot of effort into making this fundraiser a success. Each of you made a difference! Thank you!
What's next for Student Council?
We are looking forward to COLOR DAY on Friday, December 16th! Each class is assigned a special color to wear and we will be looking to collect items for the Wrentham Food Pantry! Let's be sure to show our true colors on this day!

Just a reminder that we are collecting items for the Wrentham Food pantry in the lobbies at both schools. You may drop items off at any time. Thank you for your support!
