Hello Roderick Community,

Mrs. Fox has started her “Minute to Win it” typing challenge.  The top three students in each grade who type the most words in a minute will win a prize.  The winners will be revealed next week.  If you’d like to test your own skills, please go to http://www.typingtest.com/

Mrs. Farrell's fourth grade class investigated static electricity this week.  Students had the chance to create a static discharge.

Mrs. Hall’s students were busy conquering the task of interpreting remainders in division. The students went on a scavenger hunt around the classroom.  They solved multi-step division problems using the partial quotient method.

The counseling department is working with students to create gratitude journals. As part of this exercise, students write down what they’re grateful for in their lives and discuss the benefits of cultivating an “attitude of gratitude.”   This activity comes from a recent Wall Street Journal article.  You can access the article by clicking here.

Spirit Day Update - Food Pantry Donations
Thank you to all who contributed non-perishable items as part of our first Spirit Day back in November.  We received a thank you note from the food pantry gratefully accepting the 1,292 1/2 pounds of food that were donated from the Wrentham Public Schools. This latest drive raised the number of pounds of food donated by students and families over the past year to 3,280 lbs.  Wow!!!

Let’s show our pride as we cheer on all of our athletes as they compete in the Winter Olympic Games in Sochi, Russia!
On Thursday, February 6, wear your favorite patriotic gear….wear red, white and blue….show your PRIDE!
GO Team USA!!!

The ski club was back at it on Thursday night!

As always thanks for reading!  Have a great weekend!

Sincerely,

Stephen S. Grenham, Principal

Greetings Roderick Families:

It was another busy week here at the Roderick School despite the holiday, the snow and the frigid temperatures.  Please take a minute to scroll through to view the different activities that took place this week.

Thank you to everyone who donated items for the Term II Spirit Day. The response was fantastic! We are excited and extremely grateful for the generosity of the individuals at the Roderick School.  Items will be distributed to Mrs. Prew, Roderick School nurse and Wrentham families in need.

A very special thanks to Mrs. Billington who knitted hats and scarves for our Term II Spirit Day!

We "MUSTACHE" you to view these photos!

Congratulations to this week's Positive Referrals!  These students were hard working and embody the Core Values at our school.  Keep up the great work!

Thank you to all the people who attended this morning's Principals' Coffee.  We enjoyed the opportunity to go through the 2013 - 2016 School Improvement  plan. To access the Power Point presentation from this morning, please click here.  Our next Principals' Coffee will take place on Friday, March 28th at 8:30 AM in the Vogel Auditorium.  We hope to see you there!

The updated School Improvement Plan and Completed Items Task Chart will be available under the School Council portion of the website.

From the Art Room......

Last week our grade 4, 5, and 6 student artists celebrated their art at the yearly “Night of the Arts” art show.  The students were proud to have their work on display to share with their fellow artists, friends, and families.  On display were their paintings, drawings, collages, clay sculptures, paper mache’ sculptures, two-point perspective drawings…  Thank you to all the families and friends that attended.  It was wonderful to celebrate the children’s artistic achievements.

Wrentham Public Schools math coach, Dr. John Ribeiro recently worked with the students in Miss Maloney's sixth grade class.  Dr. Ribeiro spent time with the students working on adding, subtracting, and decomposing fractions.

Have a great weekend and stay warm!

Best,
Stephen S. Grenham, Principal
