Happy Teacher Appreciation Week to all of our wonderful teachers and
paraprofessionals!
Happy Nurses Week to Mrs. Prew!
Next week continues our Spring 2014 Math MCAS Administration for our fifth and sixth graders. Thanks for making sure the students
are well rested, in school on time and ready to take the MCAS test on their
MCAS days!
On Wednesday evening, our sixth grade students celebrated their DARE
graduation. This was a very exciting night as it was the culmination of
a very important program. Special thanks to Master of Ceremonies, Wrentham Police Sergeant Jeffrey Smith for running a fantastic program. Please click here to learn more about the DARE program.
On Wednesday night, members of the search committee selected 7 candidates to interview for the Delaney School principal opening. The search committee will be looking to select 3 finalists. Dr. Martes will appoint the next Delaney School principal.
Grade 5 spent some time recently visiting one of the vernal pools in the town. Special thanks to our PTO who generously funded the buses for the trips and WEST for providing the funds for the vernal pool materials.
Delaney Principal Search Update
On Wednesday night, members of the search committee selected 7 candidates to interview for the Delaney School principal opening. The search committee will be looking to select 3 finalists. Dr. Martes will appoint the next Delaney School principal.
On Monday, our sixth graders visited the KP Middle School. During their hour and a half stay, students received a message from the principal, went on a student-led tour, heard from the school's guidance staff, and learned about the opportunities that students have in middle school. In early June, the principal of the Middle School and three former Roderick School students will visit our school to answer any questions students may have regarding their transition to the Middle School.

Next Friday, May 16 is the annual lunch. Thank you to
those that have sent in your contribution of $1 per student, $3 per
family. Please continue to send in your contributions to help defray the
cost of this much appreciated event. We are asking for cookies and brownies to
use as dessert items. If you can make something, please e-mail us at wrenthampto@gmail.com.
The items need to be brought to the school offices by 10:00 AM on the 16th. If
you would like to volunteer to help next Friday, we would love to have you on
board!
Spring Clean Up Day
The official clean up day was last Saturday, May 3. We
had teams of local professional landscapers come and donate an entire day of
their time. Green Trees Arborcare did a tremendous amount of work
removing unsafe trees around the bus circle. Natural Tree brought in
mulch for our flower beds. You may have noticed we still have mulch
around the school. We need volunteers to help next Sat., May 17th
to help finish the job. A list of duties will be sent out through the school
email blast.
Delaney Art Show, Grades K-3
The art show is next Thursday, May 15th from 5-6:30 PM in
the Delaney Cafeteria. Mrs. Lovely is still in need of volunteers to help
set up the Art show on Thursday morning and clean up after. Please e-mail
her at: lovely@wrentham.k12.ma.us
Final PTO Meeting
Our final PTO meeting for the year is next Thursday, May 15
at 7 PM in the Delaney Staff Lounge. We will be electing new Board
members.
Did You Know? Interesting facts from the PTO...
- Our school earned over 1 million points from the Big Y Education program. With those points we were able to order items for the music, art and health departments. The PE department received some new equipment for the gym show. Thank you for registering your Big Y cards and shopping there during this promotion.
- We earned over $2,600 this school year from Box Tops collections! This amounts to 26,000 Box Tops clipped from parents and supporters of our school! The $.10 Box Tops do add up! Keep clipping!
On behalf of all of the employees at the Roderick School, I would like to wish all of the mothers and grandmothers a Happy Mother's Day.
As always, thank you for taking the time to read the Roderick School Blog.
Best,
Stephen S. Grenham, Principal
