Hello Roderick Families!

Today our school held its last Principals' Coffee of the year.  School Superintendent, Dr. Martes was our guest speaker.  Dr. Martes outlined the most up-to-date information regarding FY '15 budget. Thank you to all of the parents who took time out of their busy schedules to attend today's coffee, Dr. Martes for presenting at the coffee, and our food service department for supplying the delicious refreshments.  If you did not get a chance to attend this morning's presentation, it will be posted on out website.

A Camp Bournedale informational meeting for fifth grade parents has been scheduled for Thursday, June 5th at 5:45 PM in the Roderick School library.

Thank you to Dover Police Sergeant Allan Mick who visited our school this week.  Students in grades 5 and 6 viewed a presentation on Internet Safety/Texting.  Please be on the lookout for the "What do you think?" paper that your child used to reflect about this presentation.

We celebrated our last Positive Referral breakfast of the year this morning.  Thank you to all of the families who attended and special thanks to our cafeteria staff for providing the delicious refreshments.  Congratulations to all of the Positive Referrals who attended the breakfast and congratulations to all who earned a Positive Referral this year!

Thank you to everyone who supported the annual S.W.I.S.H. (Students With Illness Score Help) basketball game last evening.  The staff was ready and focused this year and pulled out a victory.  Way to go, Teachers!  Special thanks to event organizer, Mrs. Moon.  Additionally, all of us at the Wrentham Public Schools would like to thank Chief Anderson and members of the Wrentham Police Department for participating in the game.

Miss Yelle's class spent time this week finding equivalent measurements with meters, centimeters, and millimeters.  Great teamwork!

On Tuesday, Miss White's class and Mrs. Sabatini's class participated in some community service. The students picked up trash from the playground and back fields!  Thanks kids!

Field Day is scheduled for Friday, June 6th.  Mr. Maguire and Mr. Moon, our Physical Education teachers, are planning an exciting day of activities for all of the students in Kindergarten through Grade 6.  We have found it to be helpful to:
  • have students wear comfortable clothes and sneakers on this day
  • apply sunscreen before coming to school.  Please provide more sunscreen for re- application.
  • send children with a hat and extra water on this day.

Our school will begin collecting canned goods and dry goods to donate to the Wrentham Food Pantry.  Donations will be collected each morning in the classrooms starting on Wednesday, June 4th and ending on Friday, June 6th.  As a reminder, donations are strictly voluntary.  Thank you in advance for your cooperation.

Hello Roderick Community,

Although the wet ground forced us inside this morning for our Memorial Day assembly, the students did a remarkable job.  Each grade level presented a song or poem, the Advanced Band played the Star Spangled Banner, Grade 6 student Taylor recited the Gettysburg Address, Ryan (Grade 6) and Tiger (Grade 6) played Taps.  All of the Roderick students were terrific.

May is National Tourette Syndrome Awareness Month.  Students in Mrs. Farrell's class celebrated teal Tuesday and made an announcement on the PA.

Our fifth graders were fantastic on Thursday night as they performed "The Great Outdoors" for the Grade 5 Gym Show.  The routines, the music, and the props were all truly amazing!  Congratulations to all of our fifth graders and physical education teachers Mr. Moon and Mr. Maguire for their spectacular performance.

Please come and join us for our final Principals' Coffee on Friday, May 30th in the Vogel Auditorium.  Superintendent Dr. Christopher Martes will be presenting the budget forecast for the 2014 -2015 school year.  The meeting will begin at 8:30 AM.  Please feel free to bring younger children if you are stuck for daycare.

Mrs. Haughey's class and Mrs. Curtin's class worked with shake tables in an effort to create
earthquake resistant buildings.  We have some talented architects!

Congratulations to this week's Positive Referral recipients.  These students were recognized for embodying or school's Core Values.  We are very proud of you!

We are currently taking registrations for the Wrentham Summer Institute. The Wrentham Summer Institute is a wonderful place for your child to make new friends and explore new things.   We look forward to seeing them!
