June 19, 2015 - Week 39

Hello Roderick Community,

Thank you to all the students, the families, and the staff for supporting our last Spirit Day of the year.  We collected a lot of food for the Wrentham Food Pantry!  In addition.....we have some fun with crazy hair and hat day!

On Wednesdaywe celebrated our Roderick Awards Day.  We are so proud of this year's students!

Leah won a $50 Gift Card to Target donated by the Wrentham Teachers' Association

The Roderick students were visited on Monday by author Jarrett Krosoczka. It was a great assembly! Special thanks WEST for funding this visit!

The students of Miss White’s class and Mrs. Moon’s class held a Southeast Asia & Oceania Showcase this week to present their Glogsters to their parents and teachers.  The students were required to use at least 6 technology tools (Glogster, Voki, Tagxedo, Windows Movie Maker, FlipShare, Photo Story, Timeliner and Garfield Comic) to present their research about one of 10 countries located in Southeast Asia or Oceania.  All of the groups did an incredible job!

Mrs. Kelley's class and Mrs. Marazzi's class held two remarkable presentations this week.  In Mrs. Kelley's class, students used readers' theatre to present "Blame it on the Wolf."  In Mrs. Marazzi's class, students used the standards of math practice to create geometry cities.  They were truly two terrific presentations!  Congratulations boys and girls!

Grade 5 celebrated Colonial Day on Thursday.

The students looked great as they traveled back in time.

Thanks to Caroline and Aleksia who shared their AWESOME math project with me this week.  You girls ROCK!

Grade 4 Toured the USA today.  They participated in some great activities!

June 12, 2015 - Week 38

Hello Roderick!

What a great day for this year's Field Day!  The weather was great and the children had a lot of fun.  Special thanks to Mr. Moon and Mr. Maguire for organizing such a wonderful day.  Additionally, thanks to all of the teachers and paraprofessionals for overseeing all of the events.

Congratulations to the Beginning Band, the Advanced Band, and the Jazz Band for their wonderful concert on Wednesday night.  The students sounded amazing!  Special thanks to our fantastic music instructor, Ms. Tracy Salazar for creating such a great concert!  Special thanks to guest conductor, Mr. Jeff Marshall....you haven't missed a beat!

Please join us on Friday, June 19th as we celebrate our final spirit day of the 2014-2015 school year.  Our last spirit day will be dedicated to collecting non-perishable items for the Wrentham Food Pantry.  Food will be collected each day during the week of June 15th

In an effort to show our school spirit, students and staff are encouraged to come to school with crazy hair and/or a crazy or favorite hat.
We hope you all consider participating in this fun and worthwhile event.

Our students saw a fantastic concert by Flame the Band as part of our disability awareness program. It was amazing! Thanks WEST for funding this assembly!!!!

This week the Roderick School had "Principals for the Day."  Brianna from Mrs. Moon's room and Matthew from Ms. DeTrolio's room won this S.W.I.S.H. raffle.  Brianna and Matthew assisted me in conducting the daily business of the school.  They made EXCELLENT Principals!

Our Grade 6 students received their yearbooks this afternoon.  The PTO supplied ice cream sundaes for the students and staff to enjoy while they viewed their yearbooks and had them signed.  Always a great time!  Special thanks to PTO president Brenda Conlon for organizing this awesome event!  Additionally, thanks to Mr. Joe Arsenault for providing music!

Grade 6 will celebrate their graduation on Tuesday, June 23rd at 12:30 PM in the Delaney courtyard.  If the weather does not cooperate, we will have the ceremony in the Gibbons gymnasium.

Move-up day will be held on Wednesday, June 24th.  Children will spend 15 minutes in their new teacher's classroom, get a chance to meet their new classmates, and hear a little about what's to come in September.

Ms. Phipps' students spent time using the newly purchased chrome books.  Thanks to Mrs. Stockbridge and Dr. Cameron for making this type of learning possible!
